Being a good, Christian wife is not something that usually happens naturally or accidentally. It’s something you must plan to do and work at. I’ve been married for over 30 years to my high school sweetheart, so one might think that it’s easy for me, but it’s still a work in progress. Honestly, I can remember times when I did feel like the perfect wife, but then other times when I was sure to get the World’s Most Awful Wife Award. However, one think I’ve learned in these past 30 years…I will never be the best wife I can be unless I constantly stay in God’s presence and seek His will. When I start getting busy and missing quality time with God in prayer and reading the Bible, I usually start losing a grip on my responsibilities as a wife and my overall happiness as a woman.

Fortunately, the Bible is full of instruction for us wives (and also for our husbands), so the more time we spend in God’s Word, the more He can reveal to us about how we’re supposed to live our lives. Here’s a few scriptures to get you started:

  • Ephesians 5: 22-33
  • Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
  • Colossians 3:18-24
  • Titus 2:4-5

Also, in the book, “A Wife After God’s Own Heart”, Elizabeth George, who is a Christian author, gives us 4 biblical elements that are so easy to remember for a Christian WIFE, who desires to have a better relationship with her husband:

  • W– Warm up his life with your love
  • I– Improve his life as a helper
  • F– Follow his leadership with a willing heart
  • E– Esteem him highly with utmost respect

So, let today be the day you become a wife after God’s own heart by following God’s perfect plan for your life and praying for your husband every single day!
